Equipment & Repairs 2017

07.04.2017; Ameglia

Generator – revision & air intake

Revised generator, as it was leaking sea water and replaced completely corroded air intake cover; mechanic stated: „all ok!“ („Tutto d’apposto!“)

12.04.2017; Ameglia

Rigging (Wantenspanner)

Rigging tensioners on shrouds were blocked and could only be loosened by heating and brute force; replaced 4x

Lewmar Hatch 60 forward Toilet

The glass of the front hatch broke when the (heavy) dinghy banged on it.

Mini LED-Spots 4x

We replaced the lights above the bunks with neat, small but powerful LED spots

Raymarine MFD a125 in Cockpit

Wiring was not welded properly upon installation; MFD in cockpit kept losing connection with master and didn’t display any data. After various attempts this was finally located and fixed in Torrevieja

Flares (4x Rakete, 4xFackel, 2xRauch)

The existing emergency signals (flares, …) were outdated by far.

Spi-Halyard

Replaced one oft he Spi-Halyards with 12mm Lyros

Prebit LED Light 4x

Installed further 4 Prebit LED lights in salon with dimmable red/white light.

12.05.2017; Gibraltar

Shore Power (Hubell Plug & Connector)

Replaced shore power connector and disconnected ground; around that connector paint was coming off and alu was corroding; ground was originally connected to connector creating galvanic corrosion when on shore power.

17.05.2017; Vilamoura

Gear box oil

Replaced gear box oil using ATF33; replaced a valve in heat exchanger circuit, which was half way corroded by scratching on engine.

14.06.2017; Benodet

Yamaha F6 outboard

Replaced old Yamaha F4 outboard with an almost new, slightly more powerful model in Benodet (FR)

25.06.2017; Ille d‘Ouessant

Generator – heat exchanger replaced

Replaced the heat exchanger housing as it was broken due to congested exhaust water pipe. Sea water was leaking already upon start. Disassembled housing in Cascais, ordered new housing in US, reassembled at Ille d‘Ouessant. Replaced also various parts connecting to it.

30.06.2017;
Plymouth

Spi-Pole

Repaired corroded, dented end of short spi pole in Plymouth

Screw out plate

Replaced broken screw out plate on stern (covering rudder)

08.07.2017; Dublin (Howth)

Paint – hatches on stern

I painted the inside of the 4 covers of the hatches on the stern, as well as the complete inside of the 2 large storages on the stern

17.07.2017; Bangor

Batteries Bowthruster

Replaced 2x batteries 75Ah of bowthruster in Bangor after overheating on night passage from Isle of Man; only in Kiel we identified the Battery Separator switch to be malfunctioning.

04.09.2017; Arnis

Sliding hatch (Schiebeluk)

Repair of sliding hatch in cockpit; the plastic strips on the side to slide the hatch were gone loose. Very complicated job, as there was no way to get the hatch out without cutting the wood.

Gas revision &
Truma GSE Switch

Revision of gas pipes and replacement of hoses and valve; check of tightness; installed a Truma electronic gas switch, which allows shutting off the valve at the tank directly from the galley.

Boom (Baumnock)

The eye supporting the boom was corroded and broke; we installed a chromesteel cuff with 2 new eyes supporting the boom; now it‘s solid and neat.

Diode circuit breaker

After a long search we identified the diode circuit breaker, who separates the three battery groups aboard, was not working; hence only one battery group was charged by the alternator when the engine was running. We managed on our way by bridging the battery groups when the engine was on. This was also the reason for burning the bow thruster batteries.

07.09.2017; Strande resp.
17.04.2018
