MFD a125 in Cockpit replaced

The touch function on the new plotter didn’t work any more after only 2 years. We got it replaced on warranty by Raymarine.

Generator Northern Lights M673L removed

Since Arrival in Horta (i.e. last day of passage), the generator didn’t start any more. A check in Ameglia by the mechanic showed no pressure on cylinders. We dismounted the generator and got it with a huge effort out of the ship. The cylinders showed corrosion, sea water must have flown back from the cooling circuit. A repair would have costed almost the same as a new.

This was the end of a long, painful experience with many hassles with our generator. I spent a lot on spares and never got it working again properly.

Keel fixed & painted; Zinc anodes added

The 500kg retracting keel is made of steel. The factory had no anodes planned there. But after inspecting it we noticed lots of small corrosion holes in it. We polished the rust off the steel, filled the holes using epoxy and repainted the whole thing. Then we added 2 zinc anodes to the keel.

Bimini replaced

The tissue oft he bimini was gone in the meantime. We had a new one made in Italy, including a new leather cushion for the cockpit.

AIS splitter & Solar charger replaced

Maybe due to lightning or whatever these 2 electronic devices were gone and had to be replaced.

Prebit LED spots in all cabins & toilets (8x)

Finally I got the same LED spots installed everywhere. Their light is so much better than what used to be.

Generator Northern Lights M673L installed

We bought the same model of generator again in the US, including a new, smaller sound enclosure. I painted the bilge underneath, installed a new base plate. Together with David we installed the new generator underneath the forward bunk. I moved the siphon from the outside tot he center oft he boat to reduce risk of water flowing back when heeling.

The new generator is just excellent: silent, more powerful, clean and starting on first attempt.

Acryl glass of aft hatches (2x)

I replaced the acryl glass oft he rear hatch and the small hatch of our toilet. They were almost blind due to sunlight.

EPIRB Ocean Signal replaced

The old EPIRB needed revision, but the battery wasn’t available any more. Hence weh ad to replace the EPIRB

Induction stove Klarstein (new)

We purchased a new induction stove, which runs also on generator power. Now water boils in no time!

Cabling of Fridge replaced

The fridge was attached with 1.5mm2 cables, causing too much loss in voltage. Hence it stopped operating too early, even though the battery voltage was still sufficient (i.e. above 12.0V). We replaced it with 2.5mm2 cables, and things were resolved!

Cabling of Deepfreeze replaced

After this experience with the fridge, I modified also the cabling oft he deepfreeze. I connected it to the feed oft he anchor winch and used 2.5mm2 wires. Now also the deepfreeze works fine until service batteries are truely low.

Raymarine Windvane replaced

The screw holding the wind vane was broken, hence we didn’t get any wind reading any more. Maybe a bird, maybe the sun. But there was no other way than purchasing a new wind vane for 400EUR. It was not possible to replace the screw (worth 10EUR).

Painting of stern & rollbar; swimming platform fixed

I painted the whole oft he stern as well as the rollbar. Then I replaced the chrome vent covers, which I found at a provider in the US. Also did I fix the cover of the swim ladder, which had come loose.
